"Beach Palms"

This is the result of a day on the beach in Beaufort, SC with the wind blowing fine sand into everything.  There was a small spot of shade that I kept chasing during the day.  All in all, it was a fun day painting.

"Dancing Light"

This little one was done on site at High Falls, a state park not far from my home. The light moves very fast in the one little spot but I love how the sun hits those rocks.  There are usually fishermen in the area and there is a goose that will eat out of your hand (with a little extra peck).  Today there was a family with kids that put in two canoes it was a great shot but where is the camera when you need it.  Can you feel the peace here?

"Morning in St.James"

This is the second done in the same setting. Two paintings in two and a half hours. That a record for me. Again there is a glare on the right side this time.

'Sunrise after Rain in St.James"

This was so much fun to do!  I had done my homework, so to speak, the day earlier in the rain.  I found this spot at a cemetery on the island of St. James, SC.  Not being much of a morning person the odds of me making the sunrise were up for bets but I showed them and got this beautiful scene.  You have to work quickly to keep up with the sun, what a challenge and fun.  From here I move over a few yards and did another which I will post later.  Hope you can feel my excitement.  There is a bit of glare on the photo in the left upper sky area, I'm working on better photos.

"Gold and Scarlett"

I love fall colors so in the spring what do I paint??? Fall, go figure the workings of great minds. This is from a park in my area. Dauset Trails has these bold tree colors that I can't resist. Hope you enjoy.

"Colors of the Beach"

The colors of the beach houses were so bold on at Half Moon Cay.  I still haven't mastered photographing my painting to get the truest color yet, it seems a bit off.  Hope you enjoy this one.  I haven't posted for a while but have several more to come from a workshop I took in Apalachicola, Fla. this past week so keep an eye out.

"Summer Guests"

This family of geese raised their family on our pond one summer. They all made it to maturity that summer, unlike so many other times. There is so much undergrowth around the pond that its hard for the geese to find safe grazing spots except in my back yard. The daily visits are so enjoyable till it comes to walking where they have been...I call it "goose grease". One year a snapping turtle grabbed hold of the leg of the male (I think) and though it lived it was a touch and go for a while, a sad situation. He went to the other side of the pond alone for several days before he could come back to us to finish healing. It took all summer and they stayed in my back yard the entire time. I prayed earnestly for him, poor fellow. Year after year they come but sadly the fox are around also so we don't always have "Summer Guests".  This painting has won several awards for me in the Atlanta area.

"Green Apple with Pottery" SOLD

These items just seemed to go together. I was listening to a demo at the Southeastern Pastel Society this week and the lady spoke of how some artist like lines or boxes or circles in their paintings, can you guess which one I like? At least in this painting. The colors are a bit brighter in this picture than in the painting.

"Shelley"

My daughter posed for me in this elegant gown (red sheet held on with a clothes pin with black pantie hose tied around waist). I was looking for a strong light and dark contrast. It's painted with soft pastel on a special board that is tinted grey and has a coating of marble dust to give it "tooth" to hold the pastel. It had a different feel than the other types of surfaces that I use, think I will give it another try.

"Sugar Bowl with Clementine"

I am not sure I should even post this but this is what I have accomplished today. I have struggled with this all the way through. Maybe its worth another try later. There is so much to learn, life is all about learning. Thanks goodness we never stop. I shall strive to learn something new all my life.

"Clementines"

Yesterdays painting. This was done in so many starts and stops its a wonder it was finished. Yesterday was very busy with family still here. But all is calm so now I can paint in one or two sittings. I don't paint fast so I am pushing myself to speed up and hopefully have a more "painterly" style. I want to do more plein air painting so I need speed to get all the information in before the scene changes.

"Summer Clouds"

This is a plein air done in Beaufort, S.C. My husband and I like to go camping there on the beach, as long as we have plenty of bug spray that is. He is a mountain biker so he went biking while I painted a couple of scenes this past summer. Sure would like some of that weather now it will get in the low 20s this week. Burrrr!
