"Wildcat Creek"

I haven't had a chance to paint so I will post this oil from a few years ago. It is a road leading to primitive camping & a stream that is stocked regularly with trout that seem to be very hungry for corn. It is easy fun fishing, relaxing and of course painting. This was done from a photo. Hope to post a fresh painting soon.

"Funny Little Peppers"

This little 5x5 was a quick painting from a set up before those funny little things went bad. When I saw them at the grocery store I thought they would be a challenge with all the indentions on these funny looking peppers, but I think they show their true shape, weird.   The blue colors didn't photograph true though.

"Two Ladies"

This is the third of the three done on Wallis sand paper. I toned the paper using pastel & mineral spirits to give it a watercolor effect before doing the pastel. Sand paper holds the pastel on the paper with the ability to build the pastels layer by layer to give it depth.

"Yellow Aspens"

The photo of this painting has more yellow and less golden tones than is really there. This painting has a happy feel, don't you think? My art is about the mood and excitement I feel from a scene.Posted by Picasa

"Lazy Waters"

This one is a "paint along". It is my version of what another artist was teaching. It is quite different which is what I wanted and I rather like it. One can learn a lot by following others, then you develope you own style.Posted by Picasa

"Pond in Fall Attire"

This is a pond & pasture area that I have found just a few miles from me so I can go out any time my little heart desires. Of course the fall colors have fallen off now but I enjoyed it while it was there. I love fall! I plan to do more from this area in the future. And do more plein air paintings in a looser artistic style. Even with the field dogs (hunting & bird dogs) near by barking like crazy, it is quite peaceful.Posted by Picasa

"Snow in the Pines"

This also is one done from a photo. We don't get that kind of snow here in Ga. Our area barely sees snow. Last year we had enough snow for folks to make a "dirty" snow man filled with leaves & such...it really was a big deal for everyone south of Atlanta. Hope you enjoy this.

"Rusty Roof"

This is a little 10"x10" that I started at a workshop taught by Ann Templeton. I worked from a photo & was drawn to the bit of light on the rusty roof. Learning to be more abstract is more difficult than it looks. But I love to see paintings done is a loose style as opposed to more realistic, which has been my style of the past.
